About U-Matter

Built around lived experience, not just compliance data.

U-Matter gives residents, families, and staff a trusted way to surface what daily life inside a nursing home actually feels like.

Why it matters

Families often make care decisions with limited lived-experience information. U-Matter adds a missing layer: verified human feedback from the people closest to the care experience.

U-Matter is Australia's first experience-first nursing home rating platform. We believe the people who matter most in aged care are the residents, their families, and the staff who care for them every day.

Our Mission

We exist to give a voice to those who experience aged care firsthand. Unlike compliance-only ratings, U-Matter captures the real, lived experiences of people in care so families can make clearer, more confident decisions.

Understanding Our Heart Ratings

Every facility on U-Matter receives a heart rating based on aggregated experiences from three key perspectives.

Green Heart

Positive experiences. Residents, families, and staff report good care, respect, and quality of life.

Orange Heart

Mixed experiences. Some positive aspects exist, but notable concerns have also been raised.

Broken Heart

Serious concerns. Multiple negative experiences have been reported across reviewer groups.

How It Works

1

Download and register

Create an account as a resident, relative, or staff member through the mobile app.

2

Visit the facility

Complete your review while on-site so the experience can be geofence-verified for authenticity.

3

Share your experience

Rate the care domains relevant to your role and contribute to the public understanding of the home.

4

Help others decide

Your review becomes part of the aggregate signal families use when comparing aged care options.

Our Approach

U-Matter goes beyond compliance metrics. We measure what matters most: dignity, respect, food quality, activities, staffing, communication, and overall wellbeing. Reviews are geofence-verified to help ensure they come from people who have actually been at the facility.

Privacy

We take privacy seriously. Individual reviews are never made public. Only aggregated, anonymised ratings are displayed, and reviewers cannot be identified. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
